Description
A few weeks after Don Carlo another Verdi drama is on stage. Complex opera, Simon Boccanegra found its definitive version at La Scala in 1881, but did not fit firmly into the repertoire up to the revival of Gianandrea Gavazzeni in 1965 and above all to the historical version signed by Claudio Abbado and Giorgio Strehler for the 1971-1972 Season.
This new staging is entrusted for the musical part to Lorenzo Viotti, the director of Amsterdam has now reached full maturity, and directed by Daniele Abbado. On stage Luca Salsi adds a character to his gallery of Verdi portraits, along with Eleonora Buratto, who returns to La Scala after his personal triumph in the Contes d'Hoffmann, Charles Castronovo in his debut and Ain Anger.
An hour before the opera there will be a lecture by Claudio Toscani.
