In 2004, on the occasion of the centenary of FIFA, a match was played between France and Brazil, both historic teams. The match, played with historic shirts that recalled the first outfits of the national teams, was held to commemorate the centenary of the world football body.
FIFA chose France to represent Europe, being the European champion team in 2000, and Brazil to represent the world, being the world champion team in 2002.
