Gianluca Vialli, who was the undisputed star of that Sampdoria side, is considered one of the finest strikers of the 1980s and 1990s. He remains the only forward in history to have won all three of UEFA’s major club competitions, the European Cup, the Cup Winners' Cup, and the UEFA Cup.
Throughout his career, he claimed numerous national and international titles.
He was top scorer at the 1986 UEFA Under-21 European Championship, top scorer in the 1988-89 Coppa Italia, setting a record with 13 goals in a single edition, and top scorer in the 1989-90 Cup Winners’ Cup.
Additionally, he was Serie A’s leading scorer in the 1990-91 season, in which he played a pivotal role in leading Sampdoria to win their first and only Scudetto.
