This extraordinary 1944 American vermeil (silver-gilt) brooch is a true icon of 20th-century costume jewelry and a highly sought-after collector's item.
In the shape of a stylized fish, it features a brilliant and playful composition, embellished with large white rhinestones that outline its shape and make it shine with a vibrant light. Completing the design is a series of carefully placed decorative pearls, which add textural depth and a touch of refinement to the piece.
The design is expressive, imaginative, and at the same time perfectly balanced, a hallmark of the finest American costume jewelry of the era. The brooch measures 6 cm x 5 cm, a modest size yet strikingly striking, typical of Eisenberg's creations, to which this piece is historically attributed.
