HAR earrings
Charity initiative supporting Soleterre FoundationDescription
These clip-on earrings, made in the United States in 1959, are a creation of HAR, known for its bold compositions, rich in imagination and character.
The design depicts a stylized Buddha, an unusual and fascinating theme in American costume jewelry of the period, reflecting the widespread interest in the Orient and its spiritual symbols of the late 1950s. The finely crafted and enameled figures are mounted on a harmonious gold base, where the contrast between light and color lends depth and preciousness to the ensemble.
Measuring approximately 3 x 3 cm, these earrings combine elegance and irony, perfectly embodying the lively and sophisticated spirit of HAR creations, renowned for their originality and attention to detail.
The design is published in three important reference volumes for collectors of vintage costume jewelry:
- Costume Jewelry – Silvana Editoriale, p. 282
- Costume Jewelry – Angie Gordon, p. 185
- Fun Jewelry – Nancy Achiffer, p. 100
