Description

This American brooch, circa 1941, designed by Gene Del Vecchio, is a refined example of designer costume jewelry from the early 1940s, a period in which creativity and experimentation with materials achieved highly original results.

The composition, shaped like a bunch of grapes, is crafted from translucent blue lucite, an innovative material for the time, which here replaces traditional stones with a strikingly luminous and light effect. The soft, rounded lucite berries are set in a finely crafted gold setting, enhancing their intense color and brilliance.

Measuring approximately 6.6 x 4 cm, the brooch combines simplicity and elegance, embodying the glamorous and optimistic spirit of 1940s American fashion.

The design is published in Werman's Vintage Jewelry (p. 173), confirming its historical and collectible value.
