Description

Eagles - “On the Border” (1974) - Italian Edition, Asylum Records / Dischi Ricordi

“On the Border” is the third studio album by the Eagles, released in 1974 on Asylum Records and distributed in Italy by Dischi Ricordi S.p.A.. This record marks a pivotal transition for the band, as they move from their early country-rock roots toward a more electric and assertive sound - paving the way for the defining era of California rock in the late 1970s.

The album features some of the group’s most beloved songs, including “Already Gone”, “James Dean”, “Good Day in Hell”, and “The Best of My Love” - the latter earning the band a Grammy Award and becoming their first No. 1 single in the U.S. The arrival of Don Felder added a sharper edge to their sound, with slide guitar textures and a polished production overseen by Bill Szymczyk.

The original cover artwork, designed by Gary Burden, depicts a stylized eagle soaring before a rising red sun - a symbol of freedom and power.

The back cover features handwritten track listings and production details in a distinctly 1970s graphic style.

The label is the classic grey Asylum Records design with the tower logo, characteristic of early Italian pressings.

An essential album in the Eagles’ discography, “On the Border” represents the band’s artistic evolution and perfect balance between rich vocal harmonies and electric guitars - a true cornerstone of American rock.
