Bayern Munich won the first edition of the VisitMalta Cup, defeating Tottenham Hotspur 3–2 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs took an early lead through Kulusevski, but Bayern turned the match around in the first half thanks to goals from Upamecano, Gnabry and Müller. In the second half, Tottenham responded by scoring again with Kulusevski, who completed his brace. Despite substitutions and late pressure from the hosts, the score remained unchanged.

At the end of the match, the final friendly before the start of the season, Bayern lifted the trophy. Goretzka did not take part in the game and remained on the bench.
