In November 2023, at San Siro, the term Dollarumma takes on a concrete and visible meaning. It marks Gianluigi Donnarumma's return to the stadium where he grew up, this time as an opponent wearing the Paris Saint-Germain jersey.
As he enters the pitch, thousands of counterfeit banknotes bearing his face and the word "Dollarumma" rain down from the stands. The gesture, organized by the ultras, is not simply a provocation, but a symbolic protest: for some AC Milan fans, those banknotes represent an accusation that he has chosen money over his connection to the club, after leaving on a free transfer in 2021.
During the match, his every intervention is accompanied by deafening boos. The image of the Dollarummas scattered around San Siro spreads across Europe, transforming the evening into a media sensation and one of the most tense moments in the relationship between Donnarumma and AC Milan.
That episode tells the story of more than just a sporting rivalry: it symbolizes the clash between romantic and modern football, and a fractured relationship that, under the lights of San Siro, appears definitively over.
