Description

AC Milan match shirt prepared/worn by Gennaro Gattuso for the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup semi-final against Urawa Red Diamonds, played on 13 December 2007 in Yokohama, during the 2007/08 season.

At the International Stadium Yokohama, Carlo Ancelotti’s Milan, reigning European champions, faced Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds for a place in the tournament final. The match ended in a 1–0 victory for Milan, with Clarence Seedorf scoring the decisive goal in the 68th minute, sending the Rossoneri through to the final against Boca Juniors.

Three days later, on 16 December 2007, the very day of the 108th anniversary of AC Milan’s foundation, the Rossoneri defeated Boca Juniors 4–2, winning the FIFA Club World Cup and completing an extraordinary international year that had begun with their Champions League triumph in Athens.

Gennaro Gattuso was one of the defining figures of modern AC Milan, a combative midfielder and charismatic leader who embodied the Rossoneri spirit for more than a decade. Having joined the club in 1999, he forged a deep bond with Milan and San Siro through his determination, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to the shirt, becoming a reference point for both teammates and supporters.

By the 2007/08 season, Gattuso was one of the senior figures in Ancelotti’s dressing room and a fundamental presence in midfield. His intensity, tactical discipline and leadership were integral to a remarkable generation of Milan players who first conquered Europe and then went on to become world champions.
