Description

Italy match shirt issued / worn by the number 9 of the Italian National Team on the occasion of an official match, 1996/97 season.

During the seasons in which this shirt model was used, several players wore the number 9 for the Italian National Team. At the time, there was not yet a fixed association between a player and a specific squad number, so the number 9 shirt was worn by different Italian forwards, including Inzaghi, Bobo Vieri, Ravanelli, and Casiraghi.

It was while wearing this very shirt model that the Italian National Team scored the 1,000th goal in its history. The historic milestone was achieved by the number 9 on the field that day: Bobo Vieri.

However, this shirt cannot be attributed to a Euro 1996 match. During that tournament, the Azzurri wore the official competition patch, and the shirts did not feature the “Italia” lettering applied on the back.

This memorabilia is part of the match supply made available to players during official competitions and is different in its features in relation to the ones sold in fanshops, it could have been worn during the match and washed after the end of the match or prepared for the match but then not used.
