Description

Time trial skinsuit from Team Polti, with co-sponsors Danone and McDonald’s, dating back to 1996. This is a suit used in individual time trials, a key discipline in major stage races.

In that same year, Team Polti competed in all three Grand Tours: the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España.

The skinsuit was used in several time trial stages, including the 19th stage of the Giro d’Italia (Vicenza–Marostica), the prologue and two additional stages of the Tour de France (Bourg-Saint-Maurice–Val d’Isère and Bordeaux–Saint-Émilion), and the 10th stage of the Vuelta (El Tiemblo–Ávila). At the Vuelta, the team achieved a significant result by winning the team classification.

This suit was worn by notable riders such as Luc Leblanc, Davide Rebellin, and Axel Merckx, son of the legendary Eddy Merckx, further enhancing its historical value.

Team Polti: In this case, the sports team managed by Gianluigi Stanga from 1983 to 2000 had several sponsors over the years, each giving their name to the team. In order, these were Supermercati Brianzoli, Chateau d’Ax Salotti, Gatorade, and finally Team Polti from 1994 to 2000.
