Vintage store Napoli shirt, 1987/88 season, personalized with Maradona's name and number.
In the league, the Azzurri maintained a five-point lead over the second-place team up until the 20th matchday, but toward the end of the tournament, they were overtaken by Milan, losing the title due to four defeats in their last five matches, including the decisive head-to-head clash at the San Paolo Stadium against the Rossoneri.
Despite the disappointment, Maradona still finished as the tournament's top scorer with 15 goals.
In the previous season, Napoli had won two titles: both the league Italian championship and the Coppa Italia. For this reason, the following season’s shirt featured two commemorative cockades on the chest.
