Italian men’s national volleyball team match issued / worn shirt by Vigor Bovolenta in a match of the 2008 season.

Vigor Bovolenta was one of the symbols of Italy’s golden era in volleyball during the 1990s and 2000s, playing a key role in the legendary Italian national team generation known as the “Generation of Phenomena,” alongside Bernardi, Bracci, De Giorgi, Gardini, Meoni, Papi, Sartoretti, Tofoli, Zorzi, and Gravina.

A dominant middle blocker and a fan favorite, he was nicknamed the “Giant of Polesine” for his physical presence and charisma.

With Italy, he won an Olympic silver medal at Atlanta 1996, four World League titles, one World Cup, and two European Championships, earning nearly 200 appearances for the Azzurri. At club level, he also won two Italian league titles and several international trophies, becoming one of the most iconic figures in Italian volleyball history.

Bovolenta passed away tragically in 2012 after collapsing on the court during a match, a loss that deeply impacted the entire volleyball world and made his legacy even more unforgettable in Italian sport.
