Description

A large illustrated work dedicated to AC Milan during the 1940s, with particular reference to the 1941/42 season and some of the leading Rossoneri figures of the period.

The composition takes the form of an elaborate collage of photographs, illustrations, caricatures and period newspaper cuttings.

Among its many elements are match scenes, photographs of Milan line-ups, portraits of the players and illustrated explanations of techniques such as shooting towards goal, heading the ball and taking a free kick. It also includes references to Gino Cappello, described as “an interesting character”, and Riccardo Carapellese, associated with his celebrated “Serpentina” dribbling move, alongside other Milan players from the period.

A team photograph commemorates the side managed by Mario Magnozzi, which included players such as Giuseppe Meazza, Aldo Boffi, Gino Cappello, Giuseppe Antonini, Paolo Todeschini, Leandro Remondini and Ernesto Sandroni. During the 1941/42 season, Milan reached the Coppa Italia final for the first time in the club’s history, while Boffi finished as the league’s leading goalscorer for the third time.

The shipping costs, at the expense of the user, will be definable ultimately only at auction concluded on the basis of his nationality because of the large size of the framework.

This memorabilia piece is part of the Campaign dedicated to objects that have shaped the history of great football: a unique item, previously displayed at the San Siro Museum, that tells the story of the achievements, emotions, and triumphs of the great teams that have played in this stadium, particularly Milan and Inter, as well as international clubs and national team: indissolubly linked to the legend of one of the most iconic stadiums in the world: San Siro!
