Description

Rear Goodyear/O.Z. wheel used on Michele Alboreto’s Scuderia Minardi / Scuderia Italia Formula 1 car during a race weekend of the 1994 F1 season.

The tyre is a slick, designed for use in dry track conditions, and retains several original factory and pit markings.

The sidewall of the tyre bears the Goodyear code 50ZZM941, together with the compound code D4663.

The original handwritten markings “S F1 108” and “4663” are also still clearly visible on the sidewall.

The O.Z. magnesium wheel rim bears the period manufacturer’s marking on the inner side of the casting. A green paint inspection mark is also preserved on the inner rim, associated with technical checks carried out on the component.

Alboreto competed with Minardi in the 1994 Formula 1 World Championship, following a long career that had seen him, among other achievements, finish runner-up in the 1985 World Championship with Ferrari.

The 1994 Formula 1 World Championship was one of the most significant and dramatic seasons in the history of the sport. It was also the year in which Michael Schumacher emerged as World Champion, securing his first title with Benetton after a season-long battle with Damon Hill. The championship consisted of 16 Grands Prix.

For Michele Alboreto, 1994 held particular significance: it was his final full season in Formula 1 and his only season with Minardi. He competed in all 16 Grands Prix at the wheel of the No. 24 Minardi-Ford.

His best result of the season came at Monaco, where Alboreto finished 6th, scoring one World Championship point.
