Special Crotone captain’s armband, created as part of the “Capitani del Primo Tricolore” initiative.

The initiative, supported by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and involving Lions Clubs International, saw the creation of customized captain’s armbands for Serie A clubs, featuring the club crest, CONI and Lions logos, and a quote from Pope Francis:“And you are called to behave as true athletes, worthy of the jersey you wear.”

This was therefore a specially produced armband created as part of an institutional initiative, rather than a commercially available item. The project also involved other Serie A clubs; Sampdoria, for example, officially confirmed receiving its own personalized armband as part of the “Capitani del Primo Tricolore” initiative.

The quote comes from a speech delivered by Pope Francis to sports associations on 7 June 2014.
