Description

This exclusive lot consists of:

1)Match boots worn by Fernando Torres in the match against Real Madrid, played at San Siro on 28 May 2016, the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League Final.

The boots feature several distinctive characteristics that can be matched to the match photographs shown in the gallery. These images provide compelling visual evidence that this is the exact pair worn by the player during the game.

Analysis of the match photographs confirms that Fernando Torres started the game wearing a different pair of boots from the one he used during the closing stages of the match. For official matches, players are typically provided with several pairs of boots in the dressing room, as can also be seen in one of the photographs included in the gallery.

It is not possible to establish with certainty the exact moment when El Niño Torres decided to change his boots. It is plausible that the change took place during the half-time interval, between the end of regulation time and the start of extra time, or during the interval between the first and second periods of extra time.

What can be established with certainty, based on the matching details visible in the available photographs, is that Torres finished the match wearing the very pair of match boots now being offered at auction, including during the decisive penalty shootout.

The photographic comparison also reveals several matching features, including the traces and distribution of pitch dirt, which are consistent in terms of location despite differences in intensity today, an entirely understandable occurrence considering that more than ten years have passed.

A further sign of wear over time is the absence of the Spanish flag from the outer side of the left boot. The photographs included in the gallery clearly show that the outline where the Spanish flag was originally positioned is still visible on the boot.

Taken together, these details provide consistent and converging visual evidence linking the pair offered at auction to the boots worn by Fernando Torres during the closing stages of the match, including the penalty shootout.

The boots feature an exclusive customisation specifically made for the Spanish champion.

This item formed part of the match equipment supplied to the players for official competitions and features specific characteristics that distinguish it from commercially available products sold by the technical sponsor.

2)Atlético Madrid match shirt issued for/worn by Fernando Torres for the same match, which saw Real Madrid claim victory on penalties after the game had ended 1–1 following regulation time.

The shirt features an internally applied heat-transferred wash/care label, a distinctive characteristic that differentiates match-issued shirts from commercially available retail versions.

This memorabilia is part of the match supply made available to players during official competitions and is different in its features in relation to the ones sold in fanshops, it could have been worn during the match and washed after the end of the match or prepared for the match but then not used.
