Description

Gattond is a sculptural side table designed by Parasite 2.0 as part of The Pet Collection by Elanco, a collection that reinterprets the relationship between design, domestic space, and the animal world.

The design draws inspiration from the figure of a cat, transforming its silhouette and some of its most recognizable features into structural and decorative elements of the table.

The compact base, characterized by soft, rounded forms, evokes the curled-up body of a cat and is entirely upholstered in a fur-effect fabric in warm shades of brown and ochre, inspired by the distinctive coat of a ginger cat.

A long upholstered tail extends from the lower part of the structure and is covered in the same fabric as the base. The tail curves sinuously to the side, immediately reinforcing the feline reference while giving the object a playful and sculptural character.

Above the upholstered body sits a large circular steel tabletop, characterized by a clean metallic surface and a thin edge. The disc appears to rest directly on the animal’s back, integrating with the form below and transforming the figure of the cat into a fully functional piece of furniture.

The contrast between the cool, reflective surface of the steel and the tactile softness of the upholstery is one of the project’s defining features. The precise geometry of the circular top contrasts with the organic forms of the base and tail, creating an object that sits at the intersection of furniture, sculpture, and conceptual design.

The structure is made of metal, wood, and upholstered materials and measures 70 × 70 × 70 cm.

Gattond is part of The Pet Collection by Elanco and was designed by Parasite 2.0, an architecture and design studio whose practice spans architecture, design, and scenography, and which has collaborated with institutions and brands including the Venice Architecture Biennale, Fondazione Prada, Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, IKEA, Missoni, and SUNNEI.

Halfway between art and design, the piece is conceived as a true collector’s item, primarily intended for display and capable of adding character and personality to any space. It can also be used, provided it is handled with the care and caution appropriate for a collectible design piece.

The work is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by a co-author and representative of Parasite 2.0. The certificate will be shown and provided to the successful bidder.
