“Kick-Off” issued Ball - 2014 World Cup Final Argentina vs Germany
Description
The “Kick-Off” match ball, prepared for the FIFA World Cup Final between Argentina and Germany, played on 13 July 2014 in Rio de Janeiro.
The ball features the special gold “Kick-Off” inscription, a distinctive marking found on balls prepared for the pre-match ceremony and intended to be displayed on the kick-off pedestal.
This example was prepared with the same specifications and markings as the ball displayed on the pedestal for the kick-off ceremony, but is not identified as the exact ball taken from the pedestal by the referee before the match.
The match saw Germany and Argentina face each other in one of the tournament’s most iconic finals. After 90 minutes ended 0-0, Germany secured the World Cup title thanks to Mario Götze’s goal in the 113th minute of extra time, winning 1-0. It marked Germany’s fourth World Cup title and the first time a European national team had won a World Cup held in the Americas.
