Telerompo, a series consisting of 18 issues published between 1973 and 1975, belongs to the early period of Manara’s career. The artist contributed to only some of the issues, following his earlier work on Genius and Jolanda de Almaviva.

This page comes from a parody of “The Persuaders!”, the famous television series starring Roger Moore and Tony Curtis. Its comic-erotic approach makes it an interesting example of this early phase of Manara’s work, before the publications that would later establish his distinctive style and international reputation.

The page consists of two large panels set aboard a boat, featuring the characters in a lively comic sequence. The female figure plays a central role in the composition, while Manara’s drawing already displays some of the stylistic elements that would become characteristic of his later work.

The handwritten number “34” appears in pencil along the lower margin, referring to the artwork’s original numbering.
