"Empty room", Turquoise blue by Francesca Sganzerla

Description
In a world both real and virtual, crowded with images, words, thoughts and things, Empty Room represents a quiet space, an interior realm where one can take refuge.
Born in Italy, Francesca Sganzerla, the author of the work, grew up in Nigeria, Norway, Vietnam, Egypt, the United States and Mexico. Since 2002 she has lived and worked in Zurich. Beneath the contemplative and seemingly calm quality of her works, a sense of restlessness shines through, manifesting itself through thick textures and successive scratches.
Sganzerla seeks to evoke a profound sense of time and space in her art. Her canvases become walls on which signs and traces of history accumulate, layer upon layer, revealing the passage of time and capturing moments and emotions. The surface itself becomes a testimony to impermanence, just like the walls of old buildings that bear the marks of centuries.
The layered structure also reflects the artist's different experiences of places, leading to a reflection on the transitory nature of identity and place. By acting on the perception of space, Sganzerla invites viewers to explore beyond what is visible.
