Description

Titolo dell'opera:

"Red light"

Technical specifications:

  • Eritrea;
  • 30x45 cm - e.g. 1/6 + p.d.a.;
  • Pigment print on cotton paper;
  • Courtesy Galleria Valeria Bella.

Additional information:

"I have always been passionate about Italian history, and I have always loved visiting places where history actually took place.

I am also a great lover of Africa, so Massawa, the town on the Red Sea, has always attracted me, I was very curious to see this city that was once the bridgehead of our trade with East Africa.

Once I arrived I discovered a ghost town, half destroyed by the various wars it witnessed, but alive, especially at night."

The port area, wrapped in the humidity of the Red Sea and the suffocating climate is in ruins but decidedly intriguing.

I was particularly struck by the lighting, so psychedelic, like a city disco, and instead you find it in this dirty but fascinating corner of Africa.

This lot was donated by Michele Bella.
