"I took this photograph near Volterra, during a trip to Tuscany with my friend Bepi Bruno. At the time I was not yet a professional and Bepi and I were part of the photography club La Gondola di Venezia, founded by Paolo Monti. Partly because as amateur photographers we had the myth of the “decisive moment” à la Cartier-Bresson, and partly because film was expensive anyway, I took only one shot. And luckily I got it."
