Description

West Germany match worn shirt by Karlheinz Forster in an official match, 1979 season.

Karlheinz Förster was one of the best central defenders in Europe during the 1980s, a key figure for West Germany and a winner of the 1980 European Championship. He played in two World Cup finals (1982 and 1986), earning 81 caps and scoring 2 goals for the national team.

Fun fact: his brother, Bernd Förster, was also a West Germany international, and the two played together in the 1982 World Cup final.

The rivalry between West Germany and East Germany emerged after World War II and extended to the football pitch, with a symbolic moment during the 1974 World Cup when East Germany won their historic encounter.

The rivalry ended with German reunification in 1990, the year the country – and its national team – became one again.

The shirt comes from the private collection of Emilio Ferretti, known to all as “Sghibbe”, historic Fiorentina warehouseman between the seventies and eighties.

Additionally, the shirt shows signs of wear.

The successful bidder of the auction will receive the certificate of authentication of the memorabilia.

This memorabilia is part of the match supply made available to players during official competitions and is different in its features in relation to the ones sold in fanshops.
