Description

Official Match-ball from Euro 1996 championship.

The 1996 UEFA European Football Championship, also known as UEFA EURO '96 or England '96, was the tenth edition of the tournament held every four years by UEFA, and the first to feature 16 teams.

It was held in England from 8 to 30 June 1996, and for the first time the tournament was open to sixteen teams, instead of the eight that had participated in the previous four editions. The final match was between Czechoslovakia and Germany: The Czechs took the lead with a penalty by Berger in the 58th minute, a goal to which Bierhoff replied in the 73rd. In the first half of extra time, the German striker scored again with a golden goal, securing for the Mannschaft their first title since reunification.
