Description

Tube of Dunlop ATP tennis balls, signed by Boris Becker.

The balls were signed by the German champion on the occasion of the Napoli City Half Marathon, held on 23 February, 2025.

Boris Becker, a legend of German tennis, is renowned worldwide not only for his achievements on the court but also for his explosive and charismatic playing style. Nicknamed "Bum Bum" for his devastating serve and mastery at the net, Becker made an indelible mark on the history of tennis from a very young age.

At just 17 years old, he amazed the world by winning the Wimbledon tournament, becoming the youngest male champion in the history of the prestigious event, a feat he repeated the following year. Over the course of his career, he won 6 Grand Slam titles, 3 ATP Finals, 2 Davis Cups, 2 World Team Cups, one Hopman Cup, and an Olympic gold medal in doubles at the 1992 Barcelona Games. He held the world No. 1 ranking for a total of 12 weeks, establishing himself as one of the sport’s dominant figures during the 1980s and 1990s.

After retiring from professional play, Becker embarked on a coaching career, working alongside top-level champions. From 2013 to 2016, he coached Novak Đoković, contributing to many of his victories, and between October 2023 and February 2024, he mentored young Danish talent Holger Rune.
