Description

Juventus match worn shirt by Cabrini in the European Cup Second leg match against Aston Villa played on 16/03/1983 at "Stadio Delle Alpi" in Torino, season 1982/83. Juventus won 3–1 and advanced to the next round, thanks also to the 2–1 victory in the first leg.

During the first of the two matches, Juventus took the field wearing a shirt free of any sponsor: no “Ariston” logo emblazoned across the chest, capturing all the charm of a bygone era because forbidden in England. In the return leg, however, the scene changed: the sponsor appeared, restoring the shirt to its full official look.

Yet what makes this piece of memorabilia truly extraordinary is not just its rare aesthetic. Its authenticity is elevated by a certificate signed by a former Aston Villa player: Dennis Mortimer, who officially confirms in writing the jersey swap with Antonio Cabrini at the end of the match.

What makes this auction even more captivating is a detail that might escape a casual glance, yet tells a silent and powerful story. Although the jersey has been washed and bears the natural signs of age and wear, traces of the pitch are still visible on both sleeves, right and left. Faint marks, scuffs, and subtle stains speak of a match played with intensity and passion. This detail is confirmed by the only known photograph, which captures and preserves that very moment, as highlighted by the photo-matching featured in the gallery.

Juventus reached their second European Cup final, facing West German side Hamburg. Despite being the favorites — with the tournament’s top scorer (the first ever for a Juventus player) and 1982 Ballon d'Or winner Paolo Rossi in the squad, and having eliminated the defending champions Aston Villa along the way — the Bianconeri were defeated 0–1 in Athens by a goal from Felix Magath.

For Antonio Cabrini, Juventus was never just a shirt. It was home, skin, destiny. From 1976 to 1989, he wore those colours with a level of dedication and consistency that can’t be measured by numbers alone, but only by heart.

An elegant, modern full-back, always ahead of his time, he was a key figure in one of the brightest eras in the club’s history. With him on the pitch, Juventus won everything. And that’s not a figure of speech — they literally won every club competition.

The final piece was the Intercontinental Cup, the trophy that made him, alongside Gaetano Scirea, the first player in the world to win every international title available at club level. A monumental achievement, carried with the quiet dignity of someone who never needed to raise his voice to become a legend.

The shirt on display today doesn’t just tell a story of the past. It’s a fragment of Juventus eternity — a reminder of a time when football was, above all, identity. And Antonio Cabrini was its proud, honest, unforgettable face.

This memorabilia is part of the match supply made available to players during official competitions and is different in its features in relation to the ones sold in fanshops.
