Description

Juventus match worn / issued shirt by Furino in a match of 1976/77 season.

This long-sleeved blue shirt model was used exclusively on two occasions:

  • Juventus vs Shakhtar Donetsk, played on November 24, 1976, the first leg of the UEFA Cup Round of 16, which ended 3-0 in favor of Juventus.
  • Juventus wore the blue shirts despite playing at home, because they provided Shakhtar with their traditional black-and-white kits after the Ukrainian team lost their own.
  • Juventus vs Cesena, played on November 28, 1976, at Stadio La Fiorita, a match won 1-0 by Juventus.

Giuseppe Furino, known to all as “Beppe,” was the tireless soul of Juventus for over fifteen years. A gritty midfielder with extraordinary dedication and a profound sense of sacrifice, Furino embodied the most humble—yet no less vital—face of the great Juventus of the 1970s and early 1980s. He wasn’t a playmaker or a goalscorer, but a true team player, an authentic captain who led by example and sweat.

Joining Juventus permanently in 1969, he remained a loyal Bianconero until 1984. From 1976 to 1983, he wore the captain’s armband with pride, becoming a point of reference for a squad that blended seasoned champions and rising talents, as well as for a fanbase that adored his relentless commitment. In 1977, he played a leading role in the legendary Scudetto of the 51 points, won with an entirely Italian squad, and in Juventus’s first-ever UEFA Cup, lifted after a fierce final against Athletic Bilbao.

But football evolves. In 1982, Gianni Agnelli—the legendary “Avvocato”—delivered a famously biting quip that marked the symbolic end of Furino’s era:

“We’ve bought Platini and Furino is still our playmaker? A sharp line, perhaps unfair, but one that foreshadowed Juventus’s transition from a working-class side to a more international, technical, and spectacular team. Furino lost his spot in the starting lineup and, a year later, bowed out with grace.

This memorabilia is part of the match supply made available to players during official competitions and is different in its features in relation to the ones sold in fanshops.
