Hedy Martinelli Jewelry
Hedy Martinelli is a jewellery maison born in Rome and shaped through three generations of women. Its story is rooted in a journey that weaves through Budapest, Zagreb and Belgrade. From these cities, Hedy carried with her a rich cultural heritage, a sense of memory, elegance and a profound artistic sensibility. In 1975, she opened her Art Deco atelier in Rome with a clear vision: to create jewellery that spoke to women, and for women. Her creations were not merely decorative objects, but expressions of individuality and empowerment. Much like Coco Chanel and Diane von Furstenberg in fashion, Hedy helped redefine the way women could express themselves Her jewellery was designed to enhance the personality of the woman wearing it, never to overshadow her. As women’s roles in society evolved, so too did Hedy’s creative language. New professions, changing lifestyles and a growing sense of freedom found expression in increasingly bold forms. Hedy experimented with unexpected combinations of steel, gold, iron and platinum. Each piece was unique, handcrafted and conceived to endure beyond passing trends. Her Roman boutique soon became far more than a shop: it was a true cultural and social salon, a place where jewellery, art, cinema, fashion and human connection came together naturally. Among her admirers were Marcello Mastroianni, Catherine Deneuve, Anita Ekberg and Robert De Niro. Sergio Leone also chose Hedy’s jewellery for the actresses in Once Upon a Time in America. Her creations appeared on the catwalks of Versace, Gianfranco Ferré, Armani and Capucci. Thanks to the vision of Rudy and Consuelo Crespi, the Hedy Martinelli name also reached New York. There, it attracted figures such as Diana Vreeland, emblematic of an era in which fashion and creativity were shaped above all through personal encounters. It is precisely this human dimension that sets Hedy’s world apart: a vision of luxury rooted in emotion, stories and memory. Growing up beside her was her daughter Francesca, first as an observer and later as a creator in her own right. Together, they kept alive a boutique capable of bringing the glamour of the past into dialogue with the energy of the present. Each jewel thus became a personal story, designed to reflect the identity of the woman who chose it. Today, the third generation is represented by Livia Mimosa Fazioli, Francesca’s daughter. With the contemporary line SELITI by HEDY MARTINELLI, Livia brings fresh energy to the family legacy. Her work, sculptural, emotional and deeply personal, reinterprets her grandmother’s teachings through a contemporary lens. In doing so, she continues the Martinelli tradition of creating jewellery that expresses individuality, confidence and the complexity of femininity. Hedy Martinelli is therefore more than a jewellery maison: it is a living legacy of creativity, femininity and freedom, still evolving today.
