Description

This magnificent brooch by Ralph De Rosa, made in the United States in 1941, is made of vermeil (gilded silver), an extraordinary example of high-end American costume jewelry from the early 1940s.

Large in size (9 x 6.5 cm), the brooch features a harmonious and luminous composition, dominated by a large central blue rhinestone, flanked by expertly arranged citrine and white rhinestones. The balance between cool and warm tones gives the piece a refined chromatic vivacity, accentuated by the golden warmth of the vermeil, which enhances its brilliance.

The elegant yet bold design reflects Ralph De Rosa's signature style, known for the quality of his settings, his sophisticated use of color, and his attention to decorative details. The brooch perfectly embodies the glamorous elegance and theatrical flair of American jewelry of the period, when costume jewelry reached artistic heights of great refinement.

This piece is published in Roberto Brunialti's volume Costume Jewelry, on page 157, confirming its historical and collectible value as one of the creations most representative of Ralph De Rosa's creativity and mastery.

For this charitable initiative, Memorabid is responsible for collecting pre-auction bids.

The final closing of the lot will take place during the event on Tuesday, December 2nd, at 6:30 PM at Palazzo Broletto in Pavia.

At the end of the pre-auction, the highest bid received for each lot will constitute the starting bid for the in-person event. If there are no further bids, the pre-auction winner will definitively win the lot.

Pre-auction winners will receive an email inviting them to raise a maximum bid, which will be carried over to the auction on December 2nd to protect the interests of the online pre-auction participant.
