Description

White Sintesi lamp by Artemide.

SINTESI, 1975, Ernesto Gismondi

Introduced for the first time in 1975, the Sintesi lamp was the first Artemide product designed by its founder, Ernesto Gismondi.

It was born as an intelligent system, simple in its shared components that give rise to a large family.

The table version, now reissued, is the base from which the entire system develops.

It is a minimalist yet adjustable structure with variable height.

It is composed of a few elements made of folded metal.

The structure is composed of two "C"s of different lengths; the shorter one is inserted halfway into the longer one to create a Y-shaped support that opens and closes to allow the lamp to be tilted.

A frame surrounds the light source to support and orient it. It accommodates a universal E27 socket, making it impervious to the passage of time and lighting technologies, and supports a reflector and a protective grille to shield the light source.

Sintesi can be positioned in various ways to direct the light and folds into a flat package.

It has a simple, concrete design born from "doing," a central aspect of Ernesto Gismondi's design method.

Ernesto Gismondi, as an entrepreneur and engineer as well as a designer, approaches the project with a holistic vision: functionality, quality, and balance of form, mechanical aspects, but also simplicity of production and assembly, all of which allow the product to deliver accessible quality on the market and become a timeless icon.
