Fondazione Bambino Gesù ETS
The Foundation was established in 1996 by Pope John Paul II under the name “Cari Bambini” and adopted its current name, “Fondazione Bambino Gesù”, in 2000. Its purpose is to support the development and activities of the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital, which was founded in 1869. Over the years, the Hospital has become a leading national and international centre for the health and care of children and young people from across Italy and abroad, and is now recognised as a Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalisation and Healthcare (I.R.C.C.S.). Headquartered in Vatican City State, the Foundation has strengthened its presence and operations in Italy through the establishment of a secondary office, enabling it to pursue its statutory objectives effectively. In November 2023, a new Statute was also approved, with the aim of further enhancing the transparency and effectiveness of the Foundation’s activities.
At the heart of the Bambino Gesù Foundation’s mission is a commitment to supporting the work of doctors, researchers, healthcare professionals and all those who, every day, dedicate their skills, expertise and commitment to caring for children and their families, helping to improve their quality of life.
